Daschle Withdraws

Tom Daschle has withdrawn his nomination as DHHS Secretary. Politico blames tax issues, but I think it was really this revelation that pushed it beyond the boundaries of political feasibility.

Tom Daschle backed the patron who paid him a million-dollar salary and supplied him with a free car and driver for a job inside the Obama administration, two Democrats said Monday.

Too bad, and a sad day for advocates of red glasses.

    Too bad half the Bush administration didn’t do the same.

    Are we really surprised? The tax issue was bad enough (or was at least inflated to sufficient proportions by republicans), but then came the flap about his bearing the Scarlet L (for lobbying).
